SANTA I WANT LESS FOR CHRISTMAS

A window open to the world
to let the light filter out
a claustrophobic abode,
Christmas tree empty and no one home.

The emptiness welcomes
comfort where there is less:
less in this room,
less in this world,
less of myself.
The reduction of what consists of my surroundings is a resolution

Already I recognize
the most important part of myself as the individual,
By consuming less, I'm am still important.

I don't want my shoes
Made in China.
I want to eat food
from the place I call home.

To destroy that which consumes,
I vow to consume less:
less of myself,
less of a foot print
the more space- for the great green parts of the planet.
